Update

I thought I would just write a quick update about what's been happening in our family. This year has truly been crazy and stressful! All December through February we were all sick off and on. Then at the end of February when I was actually feeling very good, and better then I had in a long time, I got in my car accident. That was a lot to handle. We had to look for a new car. That same time my husband Subaru stopped working and it was not worth fixing. So, we had to buy TWO new cars in the same month! SO stressful! Then to add on to that, we have been looking for a house! I am very excited about this, but it really is hard work! You know going into it, that it is going to be hard, but you do not truly know until you are doing it! We found the house we wanted, badly, in Herriman. but it went under contract the same day we were going to make an offer! Hours before we did! So sad! That was my first major disappointment. We are now waiting to hear on another offer we made on a house in Riverton! We are crossing out fingers! We find out tomorrow night. I have never had a bedroom set, and I have already picked out what we are getting when we get the house. I am so excited! The boy's are also getting new beds. Then of course the hardest thing in my opinion. Getting the news that Gage needed his tonsils out. We took Skyler to the doctor for a cough he had, and the doctor was more concerned about Gage! He asked me if Gage was always congested, which he is in winter, and if he snored, which he does. (loudly!) He described him as sounding "Like Darth Vader!" It was true! Gage finally told me that he couldn't breath in through his nose anymore. I have heard that if you don't get this fixed, you could loose your sense of smell permanently! That is what he told me. That he was scared, but he wanted to breath through his nose! It broke my heart! So of course we made the appointment to get them looked at by the ENT, and he said they needed to go! We made the appointment over spring break so that he would only miss 2 days of school instead of 4. Well, it was pure hell seeing my child in so much pain! They actually give them a prescription for loratab! He was miserable for the first 4 days, and out of it due to the loratab. I would find him looking at me and he was not himself. He was so out of it that he had a Popsicle, and it was melting on him and he didn't realize it until I told him. Well, he is doing better now, not perfect, but better. It warms my heart to see him play a little, and smile! The Smile is what I have been missing! I miss his cute little voice too! He doesn't really talk cause it hurts. I cant wait until he is all better! I am so proud of my brave boy! I love you so much Gage!

Easter

This Easter was hard since Gage was not feeling well. We ended up hanging out at home. We still did the fun things like the Dye Eggs, the Easter Bunny came, and they did an egg hunt around the house. My Mom usually does an egg hunt with them around her huge yard, but since Gage couldn't go over there, they are going to do it this week. Here are some cute pictures of the day. It means so much to me to see Gage smile! He has not been smiling this week, and it makes me so emotional to see him getting better, and smiling again! I am so proud of my brave boy!

Gage's Surgery

Today was the day of the dreaded surgery. Poor Gage was such a trooper! He went there with no worries, and was so brave! I almost feel like he was betrayed! We tried to make it so he was not so scared, so we tried to sugar coat things to a point. He knew what was going to happen, and he was going to hurt after, but he was still OK. We went to that class and talked to him about it a lot, and I think that's what helped. The poor little guy is miserable! He is really having a rough time. The anesthesia really kicked his butt! They say it could take 12-24 hours for the anesthesia to totally get out of his system. It was so sad to see a happy little boy wheeled off to surgery, and then see him in post-op so upset and in pain. It is really hard to see your child like that. He has been tired and a little out of it all day, and not happy at all. I have had a couple people tell me that their kids were fine the same day...Well, not Gage. He is really hurting, and having a really hard time. I feel so bad for him. I feel worthless in a way because I cant sooth his pain enough. They have him on antibiotics, and Lora tab. We had them add flavor to the Lora tab since it is gross, and I knew he wouldn't take it. He will have nothing to do with the antibiotics. He has never liked Amoxicillin, and will not touch it. I do not feel comfortable forcing him to take it when he is so sick. So I have to call the doctor tomorrow now and see what else he can do. I am frustrated that I cant help him more. I just hope that tomorrow will be a better day. Here are a few pictures of him playing in the pre-op room. He was happy then!

Gage's surgery Preperation Class

Today I took Gage to a class at Primary Children's Hospital, that would get him prepared for his surgery on Wednesday. He is going to to get his Tonsils, and Adenoids taken out. He is pretty scared, so I thought this would help. They show the kids a movie, and all the things they will see when they go in, all the places they will go, and tell them what is going to happen. They see the room we wait in to get a check up, then we go to the room where they wait for their surgery. After their surgery, they go into a room where they recover until they get to go home. They got to take home some things from the hospital. Here is some pictures of Gage and Skyler in their doctor stuff. He says now that he is not as scared as he was. Tomorrow night we are going to drop Skyler off at my Moms house to sleep over, and my Dad is going to give him a blessing. Then we will take Gage out to a good dinner, place of his choosing, since he will not be able to eat solids for about 10 days! Poor thing!

Wedding Shower!

Saturday the 15th, I went to my step-cousin's wedding shower. Here is the thing...my aunt Kathy got re-married to her best friend since high school, Russ, about 4 years ago. He has three daughters, and a son. Michelle, Katrina, Shasta, and Kent. So, they are my step cousins now. Well, my blood cousin Jason and Katrina met BEFORE my aunt married Russ. She was dating someone else, and ended up getting married. She has two beautiful little girls, Destiny and Kylee. Then last summer, we went to Bear Lake, and Jason and Katrina just hit it off again. Katrina is now available, and they are getting married! So, they are not blood related, but they are both my cousins! They are great for each other, and I love them both! Jason is my age, and we have been pretty close our whole life, and I am so thrilled to see him happy! I told Katrina that Jason is very special to me, and I am glad that he is with her cause I know she is good for him and she will take care of him. Her are some pictures of the shower.

Wii Time!

This picture was taken last fall, but it was too cute to not post! Skyler actually fell asleep playing the Wii! He had a long day with family visiting, and he just couldn't stay awake! I love it!

On Sunday Casey, Rusty, and Terry(and his family) went ice fishing at Deer Creek. They didn't catch anything even though all the other fishermen around them did pretty well! Skunked!
